This pattern includes a bunting template which maximises the number of flags that can be cut from a 1/4meter piece of fabric. You can fancy up the front of your flags however you want. We have used ribbons, ric rac and appliquéd using fabric offcuts. Our hanging ribbon is 25mm wide grosgrain folded and flags attached using zigzag stitch to add interest.
You Will Need:
Cotton fabric – 50cm x 100cm for 4 full flags
Fuse-a-web to appliqué the letters
Cotton thread
Selection of ribbons for decorating
Selection of ric rac
Hanging ribbon - 25mm fat grosgrain

Seam allowance is 1/4”.
Instructions:
1.Cut your flags as shown on the template.
2.Decorate the fronts as desired.
3.With right sides together (decorated front and a plain back) sew along the V.
4.Turn the right way and press.
You can also make bunting from wool felt which does not fray. Try decorating with felt flowers and buttons.
5.Fold hanging ribbon lengthwise and press.
6.Put a flag between the fold of the hanging ribbon and attach using zig zag stitch. Position around 10cm apart.
7. Hang and enjoy!
